MALA Professional Development Grant

The Metro-Atlanta Library Association is offering a Professional Development Grant of up to $250 to reimburse a MALA member for expenses for attendance at a professional meeting or conference. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, registration, travel and lodging. MALA will reimburse the successful applicant for expenses incurred.

It is not required that it be a library profession conference, but it must be in an area of interest to librarians, such as instructional technology, copyright, intellectual freedom, education for the profession, etc.

The successful applicant will make a report at a MALA meeting, describing the sessions attended and their significance for the library profession.

Eligibility: The grant is open to all MALA members, professional or paraprofessional, student, or retired.

• The application must include a statement of interest, a paragraph or two describing the sessions to be attended, what the applicant expects to derive from attendance, and what might be presented to the MALA membership
   
• Deadline: May 1, 2007
   
• Required documentation: the applicant must provide a copy of the registration with the application, and present receipts for expenses for the conference. Reimbursement will be paid upon receipt of documentation

In the event that no suitable applications are received, no grant will be made. The MALA Board will judge the applications and make the award based on what presentation would most benefit the MALA membership.
