Location: Home of Louise White and Lucio Chiaraviglio

Following a social hour and holiday refreshments provided primarily by the host, a welcome was presented by President Tim Wojcik. Greetings were given to attendees and appreciation was expressed for the fine food, hospitality and sharing of their home which was provided by Louise White and her husband Lucio Chiaraviglio. Remarks by outgoing President Tim Wojcik included a review of the accomplishments of the past 3 years including getting approval of CEU credits for MALA’s educationally focused programs, achieving a web presence for MALA, and actively participating in addressing the Clark Atlanta University Library School closing.

The Nominations Committee presented the slate of officers for the coming year:

President: Irene McMoreland
VP for Programs: Kate Stirk
VP for Membership: Henry Bunn
Treasurer: Steven Vincent
Secretary: Nancy Bryant  

Eleanor Pemberton moved to close the nominations. The slate of officers was elected as presented.

An essay contest for  a MALA Professional Development Award was discussed. Following discussion, it was moved that a committee be formed to examine the Professional Development award and report back at the next program meeting. Steven Vincent agreed to chair the committeewith details to be worked out by the full committee.

Announcements included a reminder to participate in Georgia Legislative Day to be held January 24th. Issues included ongoing library funding concerns.

Appreciation was expressed and a certificate presented to outgoing President Tim Wojcik for his contributions to MALA. He first served MALA as VP for Programming with innovative programs that brought in new members, and then provided leadership for 2 years as MALA President, including the fine accomplishments listed in his remarks at the start of the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: The balance as of December 1, 2005 was $947.48.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
