MALA - The Metro-Atlanta Library Association |
Fall 2004 Meeting - September 28, 2004
MALA met for its Fall 2004 meeting at the Health Sciences Library of Emory University. Programming was presented by Carolyn Brown, reference librarian of the Health Sciences Library, and Karen Wagner, health sciences subject librarian at Georgia State University. Ms. Brown covered several aspects of MedlinePlus, a consumer friendly database and information portal from the USA National Library of Medicine. Ms. Wagner distributed a wealth of handouts on consumer health and performed some web searching in the time remaining.
After a short break, Health Sciences Library Director Sandra Franklin gave a tour of the library and discussed the library's current status regarding online vs. print journals. The Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Library supports Emory University's health sciences programs including the School of Nursing and the School of Public Health.
Copies of the handouts from the meeting will be available at the next MALA meeting. The meeting qualified for one hour of continuing education credit for Georgia librarians.
